Flowers: The flowers are tiny, white or mauve, appearing on the tips of the branches in Summer.
Growing conditions: Lemon verbena is a deciduous woody shrub about 2 metres high. The leaves are shiny narrow dark green, very aromatic. It likes a warm or subtropical climate, doesn't like cold or frost. Protect it from the wind. Grow your lemon verbena in light well-drained soil, in full sun. Feed it with general plant fertiliser. The shrub can be straggly so prune it often to keep it growing strongly. It grows well in a pot.
Uses: Lemon verbena has beautifully scented leaves. Use them fresh or dried in cooking, to flavour fruit drinks, tea, You can use them to scent a room, or use the dried leaves and flowers to scent linen or clothing, in pot pourri.
