Fruit description: The Red Bud Satinash Lilly Pilly produces pretty, glossy, crimson, edible 5cm fruits on its trunk and main branches. They have a mild apple flavour.
Flowers: The flowers are yellow, fluffy, occurring in dense clusters on the trunk or the main branches, or both trunk and branches most of the year and especially July, August and September.
Growing conditions: This is a beautiful feature plant with gorgeous copper red new growth, pretty yellow flowers and big crimson fruit. It is evergreen with very large (30cm long, 10cm wide) shiny leaves. It grows to about 3 metres high, 3 metres wide. It makes a beautiful hedge or screen. It likes mild coastal, subtropical or tropical conditions, shade or part sun, rich moist well-drained soil, enriched with organic material. It grows slowly. It can tolerate light frost. Protect the tree from hot drying winds. It grows well in a pot.
Uses: Use the foliage in floral arrangements. Use the fruit in drinks, fruit salad, preserves, and decorations.
