Fruit description: The Peanut Tree produces spectacular clusters of red pods 8 to 10cm long. These split along one side to reveal the shiny black edible nuts. The nuts look and taste like peanuts, and can be eaten fresh or roasted.
Flowers: The flowers are inconspicuous, creamy white, and produced in Summer. They have a pleasant lemon fragrance.
Growing conditions:
Uses: Eat the nuts dry or roasted any way you would use peanuts, such as salads, satays, curries, snacks, biscuits, paste, garnish on Asian dishes.
Medicinal uses:
Pollination requirements: Separate Male and Female flowers on the same tree.
Harvest time Use the nuts when the pods split open.
