Plant origin: Western Asia. Pink Lady was developed in the apple growing areas of Western Australia.
Fruit description: Pink Lady fruit is 9 - 12cm in diameter. Mature trees typically bear 40 - 200 kilograms of apples each year. Fruit is aromatic, pink in color with a creamy coloured or white flesh, crisp, and juicy. The fruit keeps very well especially if chilled.
Flowers: Apple trees blossom in Spring at the same time as the new leaves are produced. The flowers are a pretty pinkish white color.
Growing conditions: Pink Lady is a small deciduous tree, 3 - 6 metres tall. It is usually pruned to a height to make picking the fruit easy.
Uses: Apples are delicious, refreshing sweet fresh eating fruit. They are extremely versatile, tasting wonderful in juice, pies, desserts, jellies, cakes, salads, casseroles, fresh muesli, stewed or dried. Apples can help make a cake moister.
Medicinal uses:
Pollination requirements: Self-Pollinating. But Pink Lady Apples can benefit from cross-pollination with Granny Smith which increases the fruit yield for both trees.
Harvest time Fruit ripens from December to Autumn. Pick earlier in tropical or subtropical climates as the fruit tends to degrade in hot weather.
