Plant origin: Northern Queensland, Australia.
Fruit description: The Lemon Aspen fruit is a small yellow berry with a beautiful lemony aroma and a strong tangy, refreshing lime/grapefruit flavour. It is about 25 mm in diameter, with a knobbly skin. Inside the fruit is a core containing seeds. The pulp is spongy and has the strong citrus flavour.

Growing conditions: The Lemon Aspen is an evergreen shrub, growing to about 3 metres tall. It is very hardy. It likes well-drained rich soil. Although it is native to North Queensland, it will happily grow in coastal areas.
Uses: Use the fruit in drinks, confectionery, sauces, chutney, relish, salad dressing, marinades, on seafood - wherever a citrus aroma and flavour is required.
Medicinal uses: The fruit has strong antioxidant properties.
Pollination requirements: Self-Pollinating.
Harvest time The fruit is pale yellow and falls onto the ground when it is ripe.
