Fruit description: The Aussie Compact Lilly Pilly produces shiny pink red edible berries in profusion. They are smooth skinned, the skin is edible. Each berry is about 15mm long. Inside each is a small inedible seed
Flowers: The flowers are white, fluffy, occurring in clusters in Summer to Autumn. They are pleasantly scented.
Growing conditions: This is a beautiful feature plant with gorgeous coppery pink new growth, pretty white flowers and very attractive pink red berries produced in profusion. It grows well in a pot and doesn't need shaping as it is naturally compact and shapely. This dwarf form grows to about 3 metres high, 1.5 metres wide. It is evergreen with glossy foliage. It makes a beautiful hedge or screen. It likes mild coastal, subtropical or tropical conditions, full sun, rich, moist well-drained soil, enriched with organic material. It can tolerate light frost.
Uses: Eat the fruit fresh or make it into jellies or jam, desserts, sauces, syrups, confectionery.
