Fruit description:
Flowers: The flowers are creamy yellow with purple veins, with 4 big petals shaped like a propeller. Each is about 10 mm in diameter. They are produced all year.
Growing conditions: Rocket is easy to grow. It likes well drained rich soil, plenty of water and general fertiliser to keep it growing strongly. It grows in cool, mild or hot climates. It can grow to 60cm tall. It's best to keep picking the young leaves, pinch out the flowers, water regularly and feed with general fertiliser or soluble plant food to keep the plant producing new leaves for salads. If allowed to flower, the plant tends to go to seed and the leaves are smaller.
Uses: Rocket leaves give a peppery flavour to salads. Rocket seeds can be used instead of canola to make cooking oil.
Medicinal uses:
Pollination requirements: Self-Pollinating.
Harvest time Pick the young tender leaves any time you wish to use them.
