Fruit description: Salak fruit have a thin snake-like skin which is peeled to reveal 2 or 3 segments enclosing 1 inedible seed. They occur in large upright bunches on the stem of the plant. Salak fruit are delicious, with a crunchy pineapple flavor. This is a self-pollinating Salak from Bali with a golden flesh.
Flowers: Upright clusters of small white flowers.
Growing conditions: The Salak is an evergreen clumping palm, which has numerous spikes on the trunk and leaves. Salak palms are best suited to subtropical and tropical areas, planted in the shade, in moist conditions.
Uses: Eat Salak as a fresh fruit.
