Fruit description: Star Gooseberry fruit is small 3cm wide, light green to yellow, sweet and sour in flavor, and is plum-like. The fruit is ribbed, crisp and juicy. Each fruit has a small seed. The flowers and fruits occur in large clusters on the plants branches.
Flowers: The Star Gooseberry has pink flowers occurring in clusters on the plants branches.
Growing conditions: The Star Gooseberry tree is very attractive and grows to 6 metres. It has a dense bushy crown. It prefers a warm, subtropical, or tropical climate, a moist well-drained soil and a sunny position. It can tolerate light frost.
Uses: The Star Gooseberry fruit is used fresh, or in Asian cooking, pickled or candied. The leaves may be cooked and eaten.
