Plant origin: Central and South America.
Fruit description: White Sapote have round, green to golden fruit which are 9cm in diameter. The fruit has thin edible skin, and flesh which is creamy white, sweet and rich, and tastes of vanilla custard. Each fruit has 1 large seed.
Lemon Gold White Sapote fruit are medium-sized, and have a very thin golden skin when ripe. They have an excellent sweet flavour and ripen in summer.
Flowers: The Ortego White Sapote variety is a pollinator for all White Sapote varieties, they flower all year. White Sapote flowers occur in bunches on last season’s branches. They are small greenish-white.
Growing conditions: White Sapote are an evergreen tree with a spreading shape. It can grow to 8 metres high. It doesn't mind frost. Plant your White Sapote in well-drained good soil, protected from wind until it is established. It can be grown in a large pot.
Uses: White Sapote fruit is eaten fresh, or made it into ice-cream or milk smoothies.

Harvest time White Sapote fruit are ripe when they are soft, you can pick it firm and let it ripen at room temperature. Ripe fruit can be frozen to enjoy later!
